All our systems and component products meet current fire safety standards and building regulations. All our smoke and heat evacuation vents (SHEV) use automation to open or close them in the event of a fire.
In zones where the fire is detected or a manual alarm switch is triggered, automatic opening vents (AOVs) will be opened. AOVs, dampers, AODs (doors) in other zones will be closed to prevent ingress of smoke and heat into these unaffected zones.
SHEV systems are design primarily to exhaust asphyxiating smoke and heat from a building, channelling it away from common areas where occupants might be evacuating. These common areas also form the main fire fighting lobbies and fire fighting shafts where first responders will access to the building to tackle any fire.
In this way SHEV systems add significant levels of fire safety to a building, buying vital time for occupants and fire fighters alike. As asphyxiating smoke is the main killer in building fires, the role of SHEV systems in life protection cannot be overstated.
